🌎 Meadow Brook PTA Green Schools – Growing a Greener Future

For more than 15 years, Meadow Brook has proudly held the Michigan Green Schools designation. Together with our students, staff, and families, we’re making sustainable practices part of everyday school life.

Here’s a look at what we’re doing:

🥕 Composting in the Cafeteria
During lunch, students help sort food waste so it can be collected for composting instead of going to the landfill. Meadow Brook was one of the very first schools in Rochester Community Schools to launch this composting program, and it continues to make a difference.

♻️ Recycling Drives
Throughout the year, we hold recycling collections for items like batteries, printer cartridges, and electronics—helping reduce waste while raising awareness.

🌸 Flower & Garden Projects
Students have opportunities to care for our flower beds and gardens, making our school grounds a place of learning and beauty.

🌍 Eco-Friendly PTA Events
Many PTA events are planned with sustainability in mind, from recycling stations to reduced paper use to reusable décor.

📚 Book Swap
Families share gently used books so students can discover new stories while keeping books in circulation rather than out of the landfill.

🌎 Earth Week Celebrations
Each spring, the whole school joins in special projects and activities to celebrate and care for our planet.

💚 15 Years of Recognition
We are proud to have been recognized as a Michigan Green School for more than 15 years—a reflection of the dedication of our Meadow Brook community.
